I have four wooden kitchen chairs (like this one) and I love them very much (not only are they pretty, they were free!) However they are not the most comfortable things for extended sitting, and since I sit at the kitchen table when I use my laptop, I do more extended sitting then I care to admit.
I want to make cushions for them that are like this. I can’t seem to find a tutorial online that gives me basic information on doing that. (I don’t want to buy cushions when I can make them for cheap and have them match my kitchen.) I am thinking of just tracing the seat of the chair, allowing a bit for seam allowance, then cutting two pieces that size, sew together, stuff, add buttons and voila, cute seat cushion?
Am I on the right track here?
(If they play Love Song by Sara Bareilles on the radio one more time… Can we say over played? Not even the baby likes it anymore, when it comes on he kicks so hard my whole belly moves! He likes Red Hot Chili Peppers though.)

I completed this altar cloth for my husband and my Yule altar this year, just in time too. It started as a large piece of red cotton that I hemmed to make a 3×3foot square cloth. I then cross stitched the white snowflakes on it, there are about 30 of them. I think it took me about 15 hours scattered over a month to finish? I wanted them to look like they randomly fell on the cloth. I am pleased with how it came out.

This was originally based on another cross stitch pattern I got from the internet. I altered it so I could fit the words into it. I no longer know where I got the orginal pattern, but if anyone knows please drop me a line. I would like to give credit.
This is the beginning over a rather long term project. I want to make a quilt for Michael and I chronically our life. This is the first patch, representing us finding each other. He loves the moon and I love the stars so it just fit.

I forgot to do Feline Friday, ack! If I don’t get to it today I will just double up next week. I have to get a new pendant up too.
Michael and I upgraded to the newest version of Firefox and I didn’t like it at first but now it is kind of growing on me because of one feature alone. It has spell check for the text boxes. How cool is that? Now I can be error free in my journal, at least as far as spelling goes. Grammar however, I know I skip words sometimes - I try to catch them on the reread.

Anyhow sewing, I have decided to leave the train on my Witches’ Ball dress because I honestly have no recollection of ever sewing stretch material. I normally stick to non-synthetic fabrics and this is stretchy velvet. Every time I trier to so up the pinned section of the train, the fabric bunched up. I am thinking maybe the tension needs to be lower or higher to sew stretch fabric?
Eitherway I have actually managed to walk in the short train (I kept stepping on it which is why I wanted to remove it) so I think all shall be well.

Otherwise 5 hours to go till we have to be there, lets see if I can bike down to the store, get some egg substitute, get back, make some brownies from the new cookbook (Cooking for Two) or cookies, post some kitties and art, straighten Michael’s hair and trim it, make some more business cards, get a shower, do the make up and hair thing, get dressed, and out the door in that time.

This isn’t something that is going in my portfolio but I suppose it is still a craft. Either way, decorative pillows will eventually make their way onto my site. This is a little nautical inspired pillow I sewed up yesterday - I love decorative pillows.

It is made with white corduroy and navy blue cotton, trimmed with gold roping and accented with three anchor buttons. It is roughly 9″x5″ and about to be leaned on while I proof read this post…

I have been traing my waist on my corset for a couple months now. Good goddess I am surprised how little I can make myself and still be comfy. I still am going to start doing sit ups though so I don’t have to lay on the floor to get it on easily. I have long wanted control of those belly muscles anyhow.
I have come to the conclusion though that the cats will never get use to me wearing a corset. At least once a week they try to save me from it by attacking the ties on the back - fortunately I have learned to anticipate such attacks of the ribbons would… well, be in ribbons by now. Aos tries to sit on my belly I go to put it on. I just have this odd mental image of him getting stuck in my corset with me… Windigo tries to lick my face off as well.
Freaky cats.
I am afraid of staining my new corset and I can’t do nothing for a few hours a day so I made this apron to wear as well. Simple apron? Sure, but I love it. It is reversible too. The otherside of orange with a blue pocket.

I going to start making Michael’s tunic and tabbard today. Wish I had the manual for my sewing machine (I got it second hand) I like reading them before I use new equiment. I have used plenty of machines before though, threading a machine is threading a machine.
I forgot to say yesterday, Michael and I were hit by a truck that was in front of us on Sunday while we were stopped at a traffic light downtown. I forgot because it was nothing serious, the guy just backed up when he realised he was on the crosswalk and Michael blared the horn so, a scuffed bumper, lots of appologies.
Before that though, a little quiz. I think Dad should do this…

Life somehow feels different these past couples day. I don’t exactly know what shifted but something feels different. I know at least in Spokane I was not the only one who felt it.
