Moving Beyond Politics

seedpods
The blogosphere has been saturated with politics as of late (my own musings included) so I think it is time to redirect with some kind of update. Nothing too overwhelmingly interesting has been going on though, so brace for rambliness.

I think the seedpod to the left is some kind of thistle, but I am not sure. I keep seeing their fluffy husks in ditches around here lately. I have a better picture of them from a few weeks ago in my photoblog if anyone wants to try to identify them. They remind me that Winter is indeed here, I think we will even have to turn on our heaters tonight…

I’ve started working on my next podcast, so far I have received pretty good reviews on my first one, through email and comments. I appreciate all your input.

Today Damian turns 5 months old today and is crawling! He gets better and better at it each day, yesterday he got all the way to the catfood and turned the bowl over… time to move that! He is a lot happier now that he is more mobile. My bumblebee is growing up so fast!

When I was a teenager I really loved the SeaQuest books and Netflix just put the tv series up on press play (didn’t even know it existed!) It has been playing in the background for the better part of two days. Star Trek in the ocean!

This Friday the UU church in Spokane is holding the Samhain Witches Ball, we will be going. I am very much looking forward to it! I have to admit, I like the chance to dress up.

Anyhow I have to make some bread, clean, finish patching my jeans (have you ever had a favorite pair of jeans that slowly became more patches than jean?) and try to keep up with my son!

Morning Snapshots

frost
Yesterday afternoon we had a few flakes of snow. I was outside with Damian during it and I have to say, I do not think he approved. His frown of concern was adorable when a few landed on him. Damian and JaspenelleWith all the economic turmoil in the country (and world,) people seem to easily forget how much we have to be thankful for and how much beauty surrounds us. I do not know much about economics but I feel that a lot of what is out there is fear mongering. I am not trying to say times are not hard, they are, but I feel this has all been blown out of proportion. People are comparing the current situation to the Great Depression. I think that is an insult to the people who lived through those time. Michael has lost a 28% of his 401K since this “crisis” began, but you know what, we aren’t worried. I am certain that by the time we are near retirement and are ready to shift our earnings to more bonds then stocks the market will have rebounded (perhaps more then once!)

Anyhow, I am not economic expert so my opinions on that aside, I thought I would share some photos of my morning. I hope you see as much beauty in the world around you are I do. (I put one of this morning’s pictures in my photoblog, I hope someone can help me identify those unique seedpods.) I actually don’t know what a lot of these plants are so if you see something you recognize, let me know!

I don’t know what these are but I love how they are turning into star shaped seedpods.
