Baby Blessing
Perfect Imperfection - If I post could possibly be any more perfect then this one from Church of the Old Mermaids I most surely have not found it.

This past Sunday Michael and I went to Jessie’s baby’s blessing. It was a small gathering with a potluck dinner, each of us brought a spiritual gift for the baby’s altar as well as offering her a verbal blessing. The infant looked at us all intently while we were verbally blessing her as if she completely understood.
I sometimes wonder if baby’s really do know the answers to everything…
After that we did a rebirthing ritual where those willing said a little about what led us to our current path and were then covered by a blanket. Jessie drummed and everyone else chanting a word of power chose by the word under the blanket (my word was temperance.) Just when I was starting to get a little claustrophobic under the blanket it was pulled of, it really did feel in a way like being reborn. The only time I felt uncomfortable with the ritual was when one of the lady’s chose the word “indecisive” and I didn’t feel comfortable chanting it because it is a negative word. I honored her choice though.
Michael and I asked Jessie to be the earth elemental for our handfasting and she accepted whic we are really thrilled out. We also discussed the temple I want to build in Spokane and perhaps starting some kind of singing group. A pagan choir, wouldn’t that be nice for those who want to sing but don’t want to go to church to do it?
As a result I have also started a forum to discuss Pagan topics in an open minded way as well as the eventual temple. If anyone is interested in joining email me and I will invite you jaspenelle-stewart [at] gracefulsymmetry [dot] com. The only emphasis is you must have an open mind even, debating is welcome, fighting is not. We are not out to convert anyone.
The thought I took with me from the baby blessing was how strong my sense of community is and how vital it is to my particular path. I was beginning to think the sense of togetherness didn’t exist for the Pagans in the Spokane area who sometimes seem more divided over trivial things then now. Community oriented Pagans are here though, it has just taken me a little digging to find some. I really feel on track lately and my path is finally a little firmer beneath my feet. I hadn’t realized till now that community was so vital to my way.

When you have any 7 Pagans together, you will have at least 23 opinions.
The fun part is when some of them get to arguing with themselves - out loud - and they don’t have DID.
A computer/consulting firm, EDS, made a commercial that they aired during the Super Bowl one year about how difficult it is to get the features together in planning a new system - it’s sort of like trying to herd cats. Building a pagan organization is also like trying to herd cats. (You can see the commercial with the cat herders here.
