Baby Toys
Every baby needs their favorite plushy right? I think we should get our baby a Giant Microbe. I posted about these last year, I liked Ebola back then but I am quite partial to the Pond Scum and the Dust Mite now.
Really though, I was reading a study the other day that one toy stands above them all for teaching baby’s about problem solving. Blocks. Yes, just simply colorful blocks. (Yay for cheap!) I want the blocks I had as a kid.
Actually I think they were my dad’s blocks from his childhood. He still has them I am sure. They are wooden and painted and are in a little wooden wagon. I don’t know if I played with them as a child. I do remember my hoards of plushies though, so many that if I put them all in my bed I didn’t fit with them. My brother and I use to play “animal wars”, the red animals against the blue ones. My brother was quite partial to Tonka Toys. Not the crap plastic ones that they have now, but the old metal ones with all those little choking hazard parts; you know, the good ones!
What was your favorite toy as a child?
I still have my favorite, it is a brown horse plushy named Star.

I had a stuffed brown bear. His name was, and is, Bob. I have on the top bunk of my bed, he’s not going anywhere. Probably give him to my kid if I ever have any.

Those blocks in a wagon were kept at Grandma Devins’ house and we all played with them when we visited. They were the best! I didn’t know they were still around. We always had lots of building toys like tinkertoy, mecchano, American logs and Lego.

You have got to be kidding. O.O those are so odd. My favorite was my pound puppy. Never actually named it. Or chose a gender.

Favorite toy as a child? Damn….I think it would also have to be this big Tonka dump truck that I had. I bet that thing is still in some kid’s hands now, somewhere, surviving. Those things just did not break.

Tonka toys were great but I also remember a ‘Ft. Apache’ set that I
pretty well wore out. Hot Wheels were always great too.

The Metal Tonka toys were good. I think we might still have some somewhere, although they might have gone to one of my cousins. I also like my carebear plushies and some nice dolls my aunts and cousins gave me. I still have them on shelves in my room. I loved toy soldiers too…. and disney figurines. My cousin and I used to play all sorts of games with them, like Jasmine killing Aladdin or running off with a character from another movie.
