Lavender Festival
We went to the 2nd annual Lavender Festival yesterday with Dottie, Buddy and Paula. Though it was quite small, it was fun. They had pick your own lavender of course, I got a big bundle, enough to make three ritual besoms I think. I also got some lavender steak spice, lavender essential oil (going to try that in some candles) and two kinds of culinary lavender too. We tries some lavender lemonaid and lavender ice tea when we were there too (yum!) I talked to the lady who runs the farm (Vivian) and she wants me to drop her an email with my candle wholesale costs.
After the festival we went to get in the car (Paula carpooled with us) and she had to save us. I took off my hat and a big old pissed off bee fell out. Michael and I were out of the car so fast… Feeling like a bit of a coward in retrospect actually but hey it surprised me! Anyhow Paula caught it in a cup and put it outside. So nice of her
Then we went up to Medical Lake (Dottie and Buddy went home in their car) to meet up with Sal and Rusty and look at the location Sal suggested for the Lughnasadh Open Circle. I think it will work out perfectly.
One thing I noticed about Medical Lake, there are deer everywhere.
You can’t kill any in town and lots of people feed them, so they are very laid back. I don’t remember ever having been so close to a deer (that was alive at least…) We saw four in just two blocks. Had to stop at a garage sale too, Paula got a soapstone elephant.
On our way home Paula asked us to stop at Taco Time. She bought us lunch, which was very nice of her. After Michael and I dropped her off at home we went and ate in a park and came home. It was a really nice day, we shall have to make it a yearly ritual to go out there. Who knows, maybe next year Vivian will be selling some of my candles out there!
(There are a couple more pictures from the day here.)

Oh what fun. I have never picked(cut) lavender. I have tired to grow it a few times but my green thumb always turns black and I kill it. I love the idea of a lavender besome! I enjoyed viewing the photos. Thanks for sharing them
What a lovely way to spend a day! Oh how I would love to see a field of lavender!
I harvested some lavender from my Goddess Garden this weekend, at bit past it’s prime I think, though. But enough for a nice little bundle, which I hung in our bedroom, along with my other dried flowers.
I have some lavender in my hodgepodge flowerbed and been thinking of transplanting some of it in my purple and yellow flowerbed.
The lavender Festival sound great and I’m not all that far from your area and Lughnasadh! also sound interesting but I’m am rookie when it comes to earth base faith.
I just realized looking at your photos that I’ve never even seen a pic of
lavendar growing before. So thanks for sharing! Glad you guys had
such a good time.
sounds like you had a nice day…what a beautiful field of lavendar.
