Random Neat Thing

On Saturday, Michael and I went over to a couple we know’s home for dinner, which was really lovely. Michelle and Mikcos made a venison stew and we had lots of time to catch up with each other. Michelle was the priestess for the handfasting and Mikcos was the temple summoner. Michelle also gave me a tarot reading which has given me lots of food for thought.

Michael and I also stopped by his parents house and they gave us a wedding gift. It was a wheat grinder (which I have wanted for awhile.) I think I am going to make my whole wheat and flax banana bread tomorrow.

Unfortunately the grinder won’t do flax for me, since flax is too oily but I can use my blender for that. Hence the following Random Neat Thing.

mason jar on blender

I don’t know how many people know this, but any standard mason jar will screw into a standard blender base. It works really well for anything you want to screw a lid on and stick in the fridge (like dip and pesto) or for grinding small amounts of things like nuts or, in this case, flax. It won’t get it really fine, but it will give you a nice coarse meal, perfect to give banana bread texture in my opinion.

You can get those mason jars with the mug handles on them and make personal sized smoothies this way too (bite me Magic Bullet!)
